Dementia Care at Home in Sandwell & Birmingham

Specialist Dementia Care at Home - Familiar, Safe and Person-Centred
For individuals living with dementia, the familiarity of home is profoundly important. Known surroundings, cherished belongings and established routines all play a vital role in maintaining wellbeing, reducing anxiety and supporting cognitive function. Remaining at home - rather than moving into residential care - is the preferred choice for many people living with dementia and their families.
At TLives Healthcare, we provide specialist dementia care across Sandwell and Birmingham, designed to support individuals at every stage of their dementia journey. Our carefully selected, trained and compassionate carers work in partnership with families and healthcare professionals to deliver care that is consistent, respectful and genuinely person-centred.
We understand that dementia affects far more than memory. It shapes personality, communication, emotion and behaviour in ways that require patience, specialist knowledge and unwavering empathy. Every member of our dementia care team is trained to meet these challenges with skill, sensitivity and calm.
Types of Dementia Our Team Supports
Our dementia care team is trained and experienced in supporting individuals living with all common forms of dementia, including:
Alzheimer's Disease - The most common form of dementia, characterised by progressive memory loss, confusion and changes in behaviour.
Vascular Dementia - Caused by reduced blood flow to the brain, often following a stroke or series of mini-strokes. Symptoms can vary significantly between individuals.
Lewy Body Dementia - Associated with Parkinson's-like movement difficulties, visual hallucinations and significant fluctuations in alertness.
Frontotemporal Dementia - Affecting personality, behaviour and language, this form of dementia is often diagnosed in younger individuals.
Mixed Dementia - A combination of Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia, which is common in older adults.
Young-Onset Dementia - Dementia diagnosed in individuals under the age of 65, which can present particular challenges for the individual and their family.

We work with families at every stage of the journey, providing as much or as little support as is needed - and adapting our service as needs change over time.
Our Approach to Specialist Dementia Care
Delivering excellent dementia care requires far more than technical skill. It requires genuine empathy, deep patience and a willingness to enter the world of the person you are supporting - on their terms, at their pace.
The Same Carers, Every Time
Consistency is not simply preferable in dementia care - it is essential. Unfamiliar faces cause anxiety, confusion and distress. We make every effort to ensure your loved one sees the same carers at every visit, building the familiarity and trust that is fundamental to their wellbeing and sense of security.
Specialist Dementia Training
Every TLives Healthcare carer working in dementia care receives specialist training covering the different types of dementia, communication approaches, behavioural support, safe mobility and the emotional impact of dementia on individuals and families. This training is not a one-off exercise - it is updated and refreshed regularly throughout every carer's career with us.
Family at the Heart of Everything
We understand that dementia affects the whole family - not just the individual. We keep family members informed, involved and supported throughout the care journey. Whether you are a family member living with your loved one or managing their care from a distance, we will communicate regularly, honestly and with genuine compassion.

Dementia Care - Frequently Asked Questions
Yes - and for many people living with dementia, remaining at home is the very best option. Familiar surroundings, cherished possessions and established routines all have a profoundly positive impact on wellbeing. With the right specialist care in place, many people with dementia are able to remain at home safely and comfortably for many years.
This is very common in the early stages of dementia. We approach every new client gently and at their own pace, allowing the carer-client relationship to develop naturally over time. Our experience shows that with patience and consistency, most individuals come to welcome and value their carer's company and support.
This depends entirely on the stage and nature of the dementia and the individual's specific needs. Some individuals in the early stages need only one or two visits per day, whilst those in later stages may require multiple visits or live-in care. We assess each individual thoroughly and recommend the right level of support.
Yes - consistency is our priority in dementia care. We make every possible effort to send the same carers to every visit. In cases of planned or emergency absence, we will always notify the family in advance and, where possible, introduce any alternative carer beforehand.
We review every care plan regularly and proactively discuss changes in need with families as dementia progresses. Our care packages are fully flexible and can be increased - from visiting care to overnight care or full live-in support - to ensure the right level of care is always in place.
Absolutely. Many of the individuals we support have dementia alongside other health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, Parkinson's or mobility difficulties. Our carers are trained to support complex needs and work closely with GPs, district nurses and other healthcare professionals.
In many cases we can arrange a free assessment and have care in place within 24 to 48 hours. For urgent situations, please call us directly on 03333 605156.
